Who is Nick Morgan?
It depends on who you ask…
Samantha Morgan
I sometimes think that my husband has multiple personalities. As a family man – I think he loves me and the twins, but sometimes he puts his work before us … no, that’s wrong … OFTEN he puts his work before us. He rose through the ranks quite quickly, because he’s a good detective; he doesn’t let things go; like a terrier. He’s received awards for bravery – and that’s a case in point. He puts the job before his safety. What would happen to us if it went wrong?
He’s been a Detective Inspector for a while now, and doesn’t seem interested in taking the next step. I think that’s because he’s not much good at the politics. He prefers to be hands on. My mother doesn’t like him. She’s always thought I should have married my first love, who’s now a Managing Partner at the local solicitors. But, when I met Nick, I was captivated. He’s not classically handsome, but he has a way about him that makes women give him a second look. And those steely eyes; they can still send a shiver down my spine. The DIY keeps him in shape, and he still looks good when he takes his shirt off. I’d just like him to put us first a bit more.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Johnson
I was concerned about DI Morgan’s reasons for transferring from the Met to Central & Southern. When we first discussed it, he told me that his wife wanted to be nearer her mother, but I dug around a bit and heard that an operation had turned sour. No! No! I’m definitely not suggesting that there is anything dodgy about him … far from it. And it’s just rumour, anyway.
Once he joined us, Morgan settled in quickly and has proved to be an outstanding officer with a good clear up record. He’s well respected by his team and comes over well when we need support from journalists. They call him ‘Multimedia Morgan.’

I first met Nick Morgan when I was called out to the house he was about to move into. He’d found a body in his bedroom. Of course I took him in; he was a suspect. What else was I supposed to do? Anyway, he’d transferred into Central & Southern and landed right in the job I was supposed to get. Resentful? I might have been … for a while, anyway. But I can see now that he’s been good for the team, and I’ve learned a lot from him.

I want to be as good a detective as Nick Morgan. He takes “copper’s nose” to the next level. He gets a bit twitchy when he has to do the HR stuff with us, but I think that’s because he cares.

I didn’t take to him … not from the moment I met him. He wasn’t like us. I mean … he was rough and I thought that my daughter could do so much better. He’s still an Inspector … no ambition. I call him Plod. Plod by name and plod by nature. But they’ve moved to my old house now and, once he’s done it up, I’ll make sure that Samantha sees him for what he is and gets rid. Then I can move back in and be a family again with her and her twins.

I met Nick at a lecture in London and we hit it off immediately. We have the sort of friendship where, no matter how long we haven’t spoken for, we can just pick up from where we left off. I think I’m one of the few people Nick confides in … maybe the only one. He shares his secrets, although sometimes I’d be happier not knowing them. He also talks about his vulnerabilities. I like that he feels able to do that with me.
Maisie Sangster
I love him. But he’s married, so I’ll never tell him.
